Abstract

The Formicidae family has dominated a large majority of environments, where they can survive, and are considered organisms with a wide distribution due to their high and complex social capacity. This review gathers information on its biology and importance as bioindicators in conserved and modified environments, highlighting its potential role as an indicator of change in land use, one of the major challenges currently faced by man.
